AAAHHHHHCCCCHHHOOOOO!!!!

No it's not the bird flu, just a common cold. I took Zo Peep to daycare today (she's on school vacation for a week) and I called in sick. I've been dozing off and on for the last 4 hours. I just feel horrible today.

My throat started feeling scratchy on Christmas Eve. But I plowed through, visited some friends, hoisted a few eggnogs.
Christmas morning started off when I woke up at 4 am in a full coughing fit. I tried Zicam for the first time (it is supposed to shorten cold duration -- didn't work for me) and some 12 hour Delsym. Then, I crawled back into bed.

Zo Peep woke me up at 7:30 AM and we did the whole Santa/ presents thing. I felt pretty good during the morning and early afternoon. I even posted to the blog. Then at about 2 PM yesterday it hit me like a ton of bricks.

I think the world is made of "Good" sick people and "Bad" sick people. Good sick people never complain, don't ask for help and persevere. Bad sick people whine like babies, want to be waited on hand and foot and shut down for the duration of the illness.

By nature I am a BAD sick person. Only problem is -- as a single mom -- I can't really be a BAD sick person anymore. So I fake some of the behavior of a Good sick person and muddle my way through.

I do have a little bit of a reprieve until 3 PM and can put on my worst Bad Sick person face for awhile. My babysitter arrived for work at noon . She just left to go out and buy me some chicken soup and tissues with lotion. She'll baby me until its time for Zo Peep to come home in a couple hours.

And then I'll be Good, Brave (but sick) mommy again.

So sorry you are sick... at least you can get over this before heading to China....hopefully.

Take totally advantage of all the fun gifts that will occupy Zo Peep while you rest.
