I got some basic details about the package I'll receive -- more info will come later. They sent me home for the day and asked me to return tomorrow to start transitioning.
I've spent the day catching up on some items I didn't complete this weekend -- laundry, errands, grocery shopping. I'm still weak from the pneumonia and trying not to push too hard.
I bought some nice filets to throw on the grill and a package of brownie mix to create the girls favorite dessert. I'm going to pick the girls up early and ask Chef Little Zo Peep to help me make a gourmet dinner.
A very surreal day.

I'm sorry. Even when it's expected it's still a shock. Now that this door has closed I hope you will soon find your open window.
You have shown strength in so many of your post but never more than todays. The news although you suspected it was still I'm sure not fun/easy to hear. But because you are a strong mom and woman you chose to "celebrate" the day with the girls and a nice meal. They will remember this and later in life realize how you handled this with grace. May your days soon be filled with good news of new opportunities. Enjoy your sweet blessings tonight.
So sorry to hear this. I guess you'll be moving on to the next chapter. I'm excited to see what your future holds.

I predict you'll look back on this day and be thankful....new opportunities are coming your way & I too, love your attitude & idea of preparing a special meal tonight with your girls.
I wish I had your strength! Looking forward to hearing of your new adventures.
Take care,
Deb M.

I am so sorry that you lost your job. The same thing happened to me last December. I had watched my former employers fire every one of my peers who actually made a living wage...so it was no shock when I got a call from my boss asking me to come into work early...and then he hung up. I realized that I was about to get the ax...so I put in my big diamond earrings and my highest heels and headed in. I may write a book called " Always Wear Diamonds to Your Firing," and to be honest I had a great time at my termination, mainly because I wouldn't let the two dunderheads who were my bosses get a word in edgewise. I've spent seven months with my daughter for the first time since we came home from China and it's been awesome. I'm ready to go back to work next month and even though the job is not what I really want to do, I sure that I can make the most of it. I completely understand what it's like in your shoes, Mama Hen, and I'll hold a good thought and a quite prayer for you that you creatively find your way to the next chapter of your life. I won't add any platitudes because they just don't apply. It stinks that you got fired and it's not fair at all. Keep your chin up.
