Say AHHHHHHHHH....

Today was our visit to the hospital for the health exam Libby Doodle Doo needed to complete her US Consulate paperwork. Our little army of mommies, daddies, relatives, and babes in strollers left at 9 this morning. There was a little nip in the air -- just perfect strolling weather. We walked from the hotel to the hospital and back again – about 10 minutes each way. We passed a park where people were doing exercises to music, lovely gnarled trees with Spanish moss hanging from them, stately consulates with gates, people playing badminton in the street and a group of preschoolers out for a stroll with their teachers.

Libby Doodle Doo did great during the exam and smiled and babbled for various health care personnel. In fact, the women who weighed and measured her we’re so taken by the Doodler that they pulled out their cell phones and took pictures of her after the end of the exam (or maybe they just enchanted with her cute bunny jacket – see below).

The exam consists of 3 stations and each of us rotated among these exams. For Libby Doodle Doo the first one was temperature, height and weight. Her temperature was normal, her height was 71cm and her weight was 17 pounds (strange how they mixed metric and US measurements).

Next we went to the Ears Nose and Throat station. Her hearing was fine and the inside of her ears & throat got a thumbs up.
Finally we went to the physical exam where the physician measured her head circumference (17 inches). Then he listened to her lungs and heart. He also checked her skin top to bottom and examined her skeletal formation. Finally, he checked for lice. AOK there as well.

The entire exam took 15 minutes tops. Libby Doodle Doo was tuckered out and fell to sleep on the way back. She looked very cute in her faux-fur bunny ensemble.

Our next step is reviewing our Consulate paperwork, having our Consulate Appointment and then home -- YEAH!!! I'm ready to go home. China is wonderful and the trip has been great, but I miss my Zo Peep, my home and raw fruit and vegetables.
