I'm still feeling some effects of jet lag. I've been napping whenever Libby Doodle Doo goes down -- and that has been a frequent occurrence today. Here's some quickee stories from the last 24 hours.

Hallmark Moment #1
After 14 days in China napping in spurts of 2 to 3 hours at a time, I returned home and slept a solid 8 hours -- deep and restful. I think just being back in my own bed with familiar sounds and smells and especially with my two chickees sleeping just steps away was just what the doctor ordered. Both Libby Doodle Doo and Little Zo Peep also slept throughout the night without a peep from either of them.
I set the alarm for 5:30 AM this morning and got up to get Little Zo Peep ready for school. She was soooo well behaved this morning -- Helpful and positive and compliant. We both woke up Libby Doodle Doo at about 7AM, gave her a bottle, changed her and bundled her up to walk with us to take Zo Peep to school.
The morning was very chilly, but very bright -- blue skies, rising sun. The walk was so lovely -- carrying Libby Doodle Doo in the Baby Bjorn while holding Little Zo Peep's hand.
We felt like such a Family this morning.

Hallmark Moment #2
At Libby Doodle Doo's bedtime last night, Little Zo Peep and I took her up into the bedroom, changed her for bed and then snuggled on Zo Peep's bed. Zo Peep picked a book for bedtime -- her selection was Green Eggs and Ham. Isn't that a great selection for the first bedtime story Libby Doodle Doo probably ever heard? As an extra bonus, Little Zo Peep read the book herself -- from start to finish with little help from me.
As she read the story, I imagined the tableaux of me siting on the bed with Libby Doodle Doo in my lap and Little Zo Peep at my side reading the book and showing us the pictures. This is family. This is Perfect.

The First Time Ever She Saw Her Face
During our layover in Newark, I got a text message from my babysitter that she was having trouble with my old video camera. My plan was to have her tape the Zo Peep end of the first meeting with her baby sister. I was going to tape the other end and then edit both together into a video of this monumental event.
Since I expected that we'd only have one camera, my sister went ahead of me with a T-shirt saying"Jie Jie" for Little Zo Peep to put on. Then Libby Doodle Doo (wearing a matching "mei mei" shirt) and I followed a few minutes later. As I came down the escalator to baggage claim, I saw Little Zo Peep standing at the bottom of the escalator. I waved at her and she waved back and I started to bawl.
When I got to the bottom of the escalator, I leaned down to give her a hug and kiss. But she only had eyes for Libby Doodle Doo. She was enthralled. She stroked her hair and gazed into her eyes. Libby Doodle Doo returned the adoration by reaching up to her big sisters face and gouging a nasty 3 inch scratch down her left cheek.
But Little Zo Peep didn't squawk at all. In fact after I put Neosporin on the scrape at home I offered a band aid -- and Zo Peep turned it down (and she never turns down the opportunity for a band aid). She wanted to show everyone the scar -- it was her badge of honor and proof that she was now officially a big sister.

My Weekend Project
I'm in the process of downloading all the video into my Mac. I'm going to start editing movies this weekend. I hope to have the first one up on the blog by Sunday -- probably the first moment Libby Doodle Doo was handed to me.

Welcome back, Mother Hen. We missed you, and we've enjoyed all your posts.
I loved this post. For some reason it has me crying. Someday there will be a #2 child at our house too. I love hearing about your family moments.

So happy you made it home safely and your family is together again. I got chills when you were telling about the trip down the escalator. It brought back memories of our trip down the escalator. Your girls are lucky to have such a wonderful mother to share their lives with. May God Bless your family as you begin this new wonderful journey as three!!!
What great Hallmark moments... this is such precious moments in everyday things. Can't wait to see the video!
