China Travel Confirmed -- Finally

So the roller coaster ride of my travel dates is Finally over. First, we had heard through the grapevine that were travelling in late December. Then we were told in an official travel meeting it was early January. Then for 6 sweet days it was mid December. Then it was mid January -- but with no confirmation.

I received my referral on November 7 at 10:30 AM. 42 days and 6 hours later I received my travel dates. They are:
Leaving US to China on Friday January 11th.

Returning China to US (with my precious Libby Doodle Doo) on Thursday January 24th.

I don't have many more details that that. I know that we're flying on Continental from Newark to Hong Kong on the 11th and from Hong Kong to Newark on the 24th. I know that we don't have seat assignment yet (they suggested we can get them when we check into the airport). I'm going to call Continental right after I post this and try to secure seats. I can't imagine waiting until day of departure to get a seat assignment for a 15+ hour flight.

Typically an adoptive family spends 1/2 the time in the provincial capital (Nanchang in my case) and 1/2 in Guangzhou. In the message we received last night it looks like we'll be in Guangzhou for only 4 nights at the White Swan (we need to send money to pre- pay for that stay). So that sounds like most of the trip we will be in Nanchang. No information on the hotel I'll be at in Nanchang, though. The email said that final information (ticket, passport, itinerary) is being sent to us on Friday --so all questions should be answered then.

I'm relieved and can start finalizing all of the plans I need to make. China (and more importantly, Libby Doodle Doo) -- Here I come!

Glad to hear that you are headed to China. I know that it has been a long, arduous wait. As we know, it is worth it, but it does not make it any easier.
