During my wait for Little Zo Peep, I often thought of this song -- Goodnight, my Someone -- from the Music Man. For those that don't know the song -- this is a ballad that a woman sings to her true love -- a person that she has not yet met.
I changed a couple of the lyrics to make it more relevant to my family. And I'm a little embarrassed to say that I occasionally sang it (badly by the way) as I stood in her empty nursery looking at her empty crib. After Zo Peep and I became a family, it became one of my favorite lullabies to sing to her.
During this VERY long wait for Libby Doodle Doo, both Zo Peep and I have sang this song for Libby -- with lyrics just for her. It will become our special lullaby when she is finally in my arms.
So with apologies to Meredith Wilson, here's my version of Goodnight my Someone.
Goodnight, my Libby,
Goodnight, my love,
Sleep tight, my Libby,
Sleep tight, my love,
Our star is shining it's brightest light
For goodnight, my love, for goodnight.

Sweet dreams be yours, dear,
If dreams there be
Sweet dreams to carry you home to me.
I wish they may and I wish they might
Now goodnight, my Libby, goodnight
True love can be whispered from heart to heart
When loved ones are parted they say
Yet I must depend on a wish and a star
As long as my heart isn't there where you are.
Sweet dreams be yours dear,
If dreams there be
Sweet dreams to carry you home to me.
I wish they may and I wish they might
Now goodnight, my Libby, goodnight.
Goodnight,
Goodnight.
