Zo Peep and the 7 Ill-Mannered Dwarfs

(Little Zo Peep and I have been almost late for school for 3 weekdays in a row. This morning I told her this story as we were driving to school. She did not like it one little bit, but I wanted to preserve it here for posterity.)

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Little Zo Peep. Every night the princess Little Zo Peep would happily go to bed full of smiles and giggles and hugs and kisses.

But Little Zo Peep had an enchantment on her that appeared while she slept.

Because every morning when Little Zo Peep awoke there were 7 Ill-mannered Dwarfs in bed with her. Their names were:

Cranky
Pokey
Itchy
Picky
Clingy
Whiny
And
Sweaty

No matter how hard Little Zo Peep tried to get ready in the morning, these 7 dwarfs would interfere and thwart her efforts.

When her mommy tried to get her dressed, Cranky would make her refuse the clothes that were laid out the night before.

When her mommy would make her wear those clothes, Pokey made her get dressed really, really slowly. It was if she were moving in slow motion. And at the same time – Itchy would make her complain that the clothes were scratchy and made her itch.

At breakfast time, Zo Peep wanted to finish her breakfast quickly, but Picky made her comment that she didn’t want to eat what Mommy had made – even though Zo Peep, herself, had selected the menu the night before.

When breakfast was over, it was time for her Mommy to take a quick shower and get dressed. That’s when Clingy and Whiny would force Zo Peep to grab on to Mommy and beg for a cuddle – thus delaying the mommy from getting ready on time.

Finally, when it was time to go out the door, Sweaty (with some help from Cranky and Whiny) would force Zo Peep to pitch an all-out fit because her coat, gloves and hat made her too Hot! Hot! Hot!

Somehow every morning the Wise and Patient Mommy – aka Queen Hen – was able to counteract these Ill-mannered dwarfs and get Zo Peep to the Royal Kindergarten.

And when they returned home at the end of the day, the dwarfs had disappeared. But Princess Little Zo Peep and the Queen Hen knew that they would be back the next morning.
