Zo Peep's 15 Minutes of Fame

Zo Peep may be in a published book next year!! How did this happen? Well, a couple months ago I saw an article in USA Today about a new book called Father Knows Less. The author Wendell Jamieson is a staff writer for The New York Times. In the book he takes real questions asked by his son and other children and searches for the answers to them.

In the USA Today article, Jamieson mentioned that he was looking for additional questions to add for the paperback release of the book in 2008. He encouraged individuals to visit his website to submit ideas and questions.

Now Miss Zo Peep has always asked me hundreds of questions each and every week. Most I can answer: some I cannot. She asked me one question that has perplexed me for months. I submitted that question to Mr. Jamieson. Here it is:

On our way to preschool last spring, my 4 year old Z**** (now 5) watched as a plane passed overhead. Then she asked me a question that still has me stumped.

"Why are airplanes fast on the outside, but slow on the inside?"

I had never thought about how (with the exception of takeoff) a passenger never feels the speed of air travel -- but Z**** had. I ve asked some people this question, but no one has had an answer yet.

Last week Mr. Jamieson contacted me to let me know that he's going to try to include Zo Peep's questions in the paperback version of his book. So Zo Peep becomes famous for a little bit AND I get the answer to her question. It's one of those classic win-win situations.
. . . And maybe I should start encouraging Zo Peep to consider a career in Physics or Aeronautic Engineering. Too bad she has her heart set on being a Championship Baseball Player.
